Automotive Steel Flange Turning

The customer asked for reliability in the unmanned machining of automotive flanges made of hardened steel (C40), in both roughing and finishing operations. They needed to yield 180 pieces in each operation, which means filling the raw material storage of the machine twice, so that the operator could index both inserts after completing each batch. The roughing operations included the first forging skin removing cuts in both facing and O.D. turning. The TP3501 grade was extended to all the other roughing operations in the shop because of its versatility and reliability.
