This video shows 382-rpm face milling of stainless steel at 300 mm/m (16 ipm) feedrate on a Makino a71 horizontal machining center. This machine is designed specifically for high volume production of vehicle components, and is capable of spindle speeds up to 10000-rpm on the standard spindle. Makinos spindle integration with the drive motors rotor reduces vibration during high-speed operation and increases acceleration/deceleration. Rapid spindle acceleration can reach top speed in just 2.4 seconds, reducing non-cut time for increased productivity.
