By using a barrel instead of a ball-nose endmill, the cycle time was 10 times shorter, achieving excellent surface finish - roughness Ra 0.14 µm. This clip shows the finish side-milling of a triple-tapered (1°-3°-5°) Durox punch die. The customer needed to reduce cycle time without compromising on quality.
