ISCAR TECH TALK - MULTI-MASTER Line of Multifunctional Robust Tools

ISCAR’s successful MULTI-MASTER line of multifunctional robust tools opens new horizons by introducing the new 32 mm diameter endmill head with T21 thread size. These 32 mm diameter interchangeable solid carbide endmill heads utilize advantageous CHATTERFREE geometry and feature a variable helix and an unequal tooth pitch. The heads are intended for a wide spectrum of operations, providing stable cutting at high material removal rates in both rough and finish milling. The material used is TiAlN PVD coated carbide grade IC908 with a submicron substrate. These new endmill heads are available in 5-flute 36° and 40° helix heads that feature 4- and 5-mm corner radii correspondingly and 4-flute Multi-Master heads with 36° and 40° helix for machining mainly ISO P materials such as steel, ferritic and martensitic stainless steel. The shanks for these interchangeable heads have different overall lengths and shapes and are available in steel or cemented carbide. The new T21 thread connection requires a 110 neuton meters tightening torque. For secure and accurate tightening of MULTI-MASTER milling heads with a T21 thread, ISCAR provides a new clamping wrench, MM WRENCH 24-21. The wrench has an open-ended-head configuration with a 14×18 mm drive size for mounting an appropriate interchangeable torque handle. ISCAR TECH TALK - NEODO S890

ISCAR recently introduced a new family of tools designed for rough and semi-finishing operations intended for highly efficient face milling applications, primarily for steel and cast-iron. The HELIDO S890 tool line offers versatile and cost-effective tools for productive milling of varying cutting conditions. The new HELIDO face mills feature a 90-degree cutting edge angle and mount double-sided square inserts with 8 cutting edges. The new cutters have a face mill design configuration and are available in a diameter range of 40-125 mm. The advanced design of the face mills combines a strong insert structure, a durable cutter body, secure mounting, and advanced carbide grades. This innovative solution enables face and square shoulder milling while providing an additional option for milling close to shoulders where there are workpiece or work holding fixture constraints. The unique features of the double-sided square, pressed-to-size inserts are: - their 8 helical right-hand cutting edges for machining at depths of cut up to 5 mm - the specially shaped rake face to ensure a positive rake and low cutting forces - a strong and durable insert structure - a wide wiper flat for improving surface finish - an effective and economical solution for face and square shoulder milling - they are produced from superior SUMO-TEC carbide grades, which provide excellent performance and longer tool life. The following special features are unique to the new 90-degree cutting edge angle milling cutters: - their ability to machine a maximum 5 mm depth of cut. - extremely rigid screw clamped inserts due to the dovetail profile of the insert pocket. - their advanced cutting geometry which reduces cutting forces and assures smooth cutting and low power consumption. - the coarse and fine pitch configurations of the cutters. - higher tooth density for improved productivity. - coolant holes (up to 125 mm Diameter cutters) directed to each cutting edge for efficient cooling and chip evacuation. - a highly economical solution that provides an optimal price per cutting edge. - excellent performance for diverse machining conditions and interrupted cuts The machined materials are mainly ISO P (steel, ferritic and martensitic stainless steel) and ISO K (cast iron) application groups, and the advantages are: • Productivity: to ensure high metal removal rates • Economical: inserts with 8 helical cutting edges • Reliability: high process machining stability I would like to remind you to download the ISCAR World app which features the revolutionary NEO-ITA for achieving optimal machining results. #ISCAR; #Milling; #NEODO; #TECHTALK; #MetalCuttingTools

ISCAR TIP TALK - Heavy Milling Applications

Heavy Milling often involves the machining of large-sized complicated castings with hard forging skins that are often polluted by sand. Milling large parts, such as a windmill hub or a huge pressure valve for the oil and gas industry, require high metal removal rates. The main priority in such operations is the face mill cutter, which is a very stable tool for high feeds and big depths of cut. There are different ways for efficient face milling, which depend on machining requirements, available machine tools and their capabilities. High performance cutting, fast feed milling, and other methods have proven to be effective. To ensure cutting stability under tough cutting conditions, milling tools with round inserts are very effective. These tools are real “workhorses”, when machining large parts with cavities. To ensure maximum chip evacuation and to prevent sand from sticking, use cutters with a limited number of inserts to provide enough space for simultaneous sand and chip flow. Using face cutters with a top wedge clamping mechanism is recommended as much heat is generated, which prompts screw deformation and prevents stable insert replacement. Cutters with a top clamping mechanism are also recommended for easy insert replacement, especially when using giant milling machines. For longer tool life, make sure to choose the right insert grades according to the material being machined. #ISCAR, #Milling, #HeavyMilling, #FaceMilling, #ChipEvacuation,#Grades, #MetalCuttingTools Download ISCAR WORLD, the virtual "one stop shop" app that features all ISCAR's online apps, interfaces, and product catalogs in a single space: https://www.iscar.com/newarticles.aspx/countryid/1/newarticleid/2978 View our Catalogs and brochures: https://www.iscar.com/newarticles.aspx/countryid/1/newarticleid/2393
