MODUDRILL line that Features MD-MNC Bodies
ISCAR introduces the latest expansion of the MODUDRILL line.
The new MD-MNC bodies come in 3, 5, and 8 times D ratios, offering innovative capabilities for a drilling range of 33 to 40mm or 1.30-1.57 inches. These bodies feature interchangeable COMBI drill heads.
The COMBI drill heads are designed with two fully effective cutting edges, which includes the central SUMO drilling head and peripheral WCGX triangular inserts. This unique combination ensures efficient and precise drilling operations.
Let's take a closer look at the MD-BODY features.
The MD-BODY comes in two sizes, covering specific diameter ranges: one for 33-36 mm or 1.30-1.41 inches and the other for 37-40 mm or 1.46-1.57 inches. These bodies are engineered with high-strength steel, ensuring durability and longevity. The stocked standards offer a full range of 3, 5, and 8 times D length-to-diameter ratios, making them suitable for various drilling depths.
The MD-BODY is designed with a small core, central coolant channel, and two peripheral coolant nozzles for effective chip evacuation. It is also MQL compatible, making it suitable for minimum quantity lubrication applications. The patented connection of the MD-BODY ensures it can withstand high torque, providing stability during drilling operations.
Moving on to the MD-MNC modular heads, they are equipped with a standard dedicated ICP-MNC pilot drilling head and two WCGX trigon peripheral inserts. These modular heads allow for quick and easy pilot drilling head and inserts replacement without removing the modular head from the MD-BODY, significantly reducing downtime and enhancing productivity.
The dedicated geometry of the central drilling head, in combination with the side inserts shapes, enables easy penetration and a smooth cutting process.
Now let's talk about the ICP-MNC inserts. These inserts offer high hole accuracy, cylindricity, roundness, and straightness. With no need for pre-hole drilling, they can handle drilling depths up to 8 times D diameter ratio. The precision-ground, self-centering geometry of these inserts provides high penetration rates. They are made from IC908 grade, a PVD coating consisting of a fine submicron grain substrate.
Lastly, the WCGX ground inserts are designed with a dedicated geometry that ensures stable machining even at high feed rates. These inserts utilize the IC918 PVD high-performance grade, which guarantees prolonged and predictable tool life. The wiper geometry of the inserts results in smooth and excellent surface quality.
