Case Story | ABB robots automating White Castle

White Castle, the worlds first fast-food #hamburger chain became an early adopter of ABB Robots in 1998, installing an IRB 340 FlexPicker on its production lines to replace a highly repetitive and time-consuming job of packing frozen burger sliders into retail cartons. The robots were faster than human operators in handling smaller items and their speed and accuracy to keep the lines moving whilst being highly reliable enabled them to improve their business. Fast forward to today and White Castle are still using ABB robots and have been working with authorized ABB robotic systems integrator CIM SYSTEMS INC to install two-ABB IRB 1200 robot stations that packs the retail cartons into twelve-count shipper cases. This is a function that occurs along the packaging line after the delta-style FlexPickers and before the palletizing robots.
