SAACKE UW-IC Grinding Machine

The UW-IC is the flagship of conventional-type Tool & cutter Grinding Centers. It is constructed with 14 total axes, 2 of which are CNC controlled. The CNC control contains "canned" grinding programs, which are assigned to F-buttons. Each F-button is a different grinding cycle. For example, F1 is fluting, F2 is OD Relief, etc. After the input of several basic parameters (such as the Diameter, wheel speed, X-axis feedrate, no. of flutes), the machine takes off executing the chosen grinding routine. Flute to flute indexing is performed automatically, since the workhead is CNC controlled. The operator must then only apply manual infeed to the operation to successfully grind the tool.
