EDNC6 Sinker EDM High-Speed Rib Machining with HyperCut Technology

Learn more about the high-speed rib machining capabilities of the EDNC6 sinker EDM, visit https://www.makino.com/ram-edm/ednc6 Makino EDNC-Series sinker EDM machines combine rigid construction with precision operation, programming simplicity and advanced performance for high accuracy in large workpieces. Proprietary technologies ensure the ideal mix of speed, surface finish and reduced electrode wear. This video demonstrates two methods of high-speed rib machining being achieved. The first method applies HS-Rib and HyperCut technology using a 0.020 inches (0.5 mm)-wide graphite electrode with one-degree draft angle in H13 tool steel. With a jump speed of 20 m/minute and 1.5G acceleration, rough-cut machining is performed to produce a 0.750 inches (19 mm) wide die/mold support rib feature The next example illustrates high-speed side-burn vector machining in H13 tool steel with HyperCut technology. Machining is performed using a graphite electrode with a tapered-nose star rib geometry measuring 0.400 inches by 0.400 inches with a 0.03-inch-wide “plus” shape (10 mm by 10 mm by 0.7mm wide) and 0.5-degree draft angle. The side burn operation is performed in the X-axis direction with a jump speed of 5 m/minute and 0.1G acceleration.
