History Together, Lyndex and Nikken represent the best of both sides of the manufacturing industry: extreme quality and advanced technology. But while Lyndex-Nikken has a long history of success, its roots actually come from two different companies. Lyndex Corporation Founded in 1979 in Glenview, Illinois, Lyndex Corporation set the standard for quality toolholding in the United States as a supplier of 5C and R8 collets. Over the years, Lyndex's product line evolved to include a vast selection of toolholding and accessories. With a commitment to quality products and excellent customer service, Lyndex garnered industry-wide respect as a trusted source for toolholding and metalworking accessories. Nikken Japan Nikken Kosakusho Works, Ltd. was established in Japan a half century ago and has a rock solid reputation there as the number one manufacturer of toolholders and machine tool accessories. Established by Masakazu Matsumoto, a top name in Japan's tool market, Nikken has been a market leader in various industries such as aerospace, automotive and ultra precision machining since the company was created in 1958. Nikken is committed to technological advancement and customer satisfaction. Nikken annually produces 350,000 toolholders, 3,000 CNC rotary tables, and 250,000 reamers. A global company, Nikken's sales and technical service network consists of over 600 employees worldwide. Lyndex-Nikken In 2002, Lyndex merged with Nikken Kosakusho Works, Ltd. From the joining of these two great companies emerged an even greater company. Lyndex-Nikken, as a unified manufacturer, boasts a broader product line, a greater number of service personnel, and a higher degree of engineering support and technology. Why We Are Unique Innovation With a history steeped in innovation and a focus on the technology of the future, Lyndex-Nikken is the leader in manufacturing innovation. Our industry-leading design and capabilities give us the power to create ground-breaking tools and machine tool accessories that will perform with amazing precision and reliability. Our products simultaneously offer the highest possible level of performance while providing the lowest cost-per-part for our customers. We are continually striving to improve our technology through constant innovation to enhance the respect and reliability our products have earned. Nikken Milling Chuck: Revolutionary Innovation After the Nikken Milling Chuck was introduced to the market for the first time in 1963, the straight shank end mill was launched, and thus the Nikken Milling Chuck contributed not only to the Japanese market but to industries worldwide as well. The Nikken milling chuck continued to be improved and has developed into the new Ultra-Lock model. Nikken CNC Rotary Table with Carbide Worm System Nikken was appointed to produce the retainers for the initial design of the wheels on the bullet train when the Tokaido Shinkasen line (Tokyo-Osaka) was launched in 1964. The component was one of the most difficult to produce requiring higher precision and finish compared to typical components of the early 1960's. Since 1984, all Nikken CNC rotary tables have implemented the carbide worm system and hardened steel worm wheel design to create durability and less friction in between gears. Over the years the table standard rotation speed of 5min−¹ has been substantially improved to the high speed of 44min−¹, ushering in a new era of high speed gear driven indexing.
